Best Beaches of Carriacou

Carriacou has some of the best unspoiled beaches in the Caribbean, including some true hidden gems. Some are easier to reach and have more conveniences than others. 

Here’s a complete list of Carriacou’s beaches with our personal favorites bolded. Please note that these Listings are shown in their pre-hurricane Beryl state. Do your research, as many of these attractions were significantly impacted but are recovering.

  • Airport/Hillsborough beach – often overlooked, this is a nice stretch of beach that is walkable from the capital

  • Anse Le Roche – a stunning but hard to get to horseshoe bay beach, with the excellent new addition of Tim's Sunset Beach Bar and Restaurant.

  • Black Sand Beach – a charming small beach on the St Louis peninsula, with sometimes rough waters. UPDATE: Badly damaged by hurricane Beryl. 🙁

  • L’Esterre Bay – a large patch of beach that, unfortunately, is quite grassy as you step into the water.

  • Paradise Beach – Carriacou’s best-known beach, this stretch of sand is an easy place to spend a day, especially with the tasty food, beer and cocktails on offer from nearby bars and beach huts. Bathroom facilities are available close to the car park.
  • Carriacou's most popular beach
  • Petite Carenage – a jaw droppingly beautiful beach in Carriacou’s Northern tip that does take a little effort to get to.
  • Dreamy Caribbean beach
  • Saline island – this island just off the coast of Carriacou boasts some of the island’s best snorkeling and can be reached by water taxi.
  • Saline Island, Carriacou
    • Sandy Island – one of Carriacou’s “must see” attractions, this iconic island can be reached by water taxi or even kayak. The snorkeling is top notch and idyllic shaded picnic spots await you. UPDATE: Damaged by hurricane Beryl. 🙁

  • Sparrow Bay – located in Boggles, this beach is worth a look if you are nearby - for example, if lunching at the Round House restaurant.

  • Tyrell Bay beach – Carriacou’s “easiest” beach as the waters are always calm and inviting, and there are plenty of businesses around to cater to your needs.
  • Tyrrel Bay Beach
  • White Island – this island about 1 km (0.5 mile) off Carriacou’s South shore is worth the effort as it is a picturesque beach with clear, turquoise water.

    • White Sand Beach - a charming small beach on the St Louis peninsula. UPDATE: Damaged by hurricane Beryl. 🙁
